Godwin Mercado May Construction Update

Overhead Doors, Fresh Paint and New Landscaping
May was another month filled with stellar progress by the Godwin Mercado construction team. As the structure continues to take shape, we’re imaging all the moments to come – sharing fresh produce, celebrating milestones and connecting with neighbors and members of the West Michigan community.
The interior of the Mercado is starting to come to life. All the windowed overhead doors have been installed, which can be opened during the warmer months to let in the sunshine and fresh air.
Electrical works continues – ceiling grids were installed and fitted with lights, fire protection and HVAC grilles. Shortly after, the ceilings on the west end and main area were painted, and now the rest of the interior is getting the same fresh touch. Additionally, the floors in the restrooms were epoxy coated and the wet walls were tiled. The flooring finish has also been selected.
Excellent progress is also being made on the outside of the Mercado. Siding has been installed as well as trim along the roof. GVL Excavating has backfilled and poured the slab under the canopy area and will continue pour in the coming weeks. The cement work for the sidewalks and curbs are moving forward nicely, and a base layer of asphalt has been installed on the east end of the parking lot. GVL has also began to prep the play area, and the landscaper has started work on the west end of the parking lot.
We’re ecstatic to see so much great progress inside and outside of the soon-to-be Wyoming gathering spot. Be sure to check back for more exciting updates as summer takes full swing!
