Godwin Mercado February Construction Update

In February, the Godwin Mercado construction team made significant progress, with essential work underway for the upcoming community gathering spot.
The masonry team completed the block work and is preparing to start the brick facade. Once this is in place, the masons will shift their focus to the brickwork. At the same time, the steel structure for the building has been progressing steadily. Steel was delivered in early February, and the team has been busy prepping and organizing the materials for installation. Additionally, steel decking is being installed on the roof, bringing us closer to the final stages of the steelwork. Weather permitting, the roof installation will begin shortly.

On top of that, GVL Excavating has completed tie-ins on the new city water line. GVL is also preparing to test and move soil to install geogrid, which will allow further site development.
Underground work is moving forward as well, with Godwin Plumbing and Highpoint Electric starting plumbing and electrical work on the west end of the building.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to see more progress. The next big task is the start of the brickwork, which is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks. The old fence on the west end has been removed, making way for further site work, and we’re expecting GVL to continue hauling soil as the ground thaws.
With everything moving forward smoothly, we’re excited to see the project continue to take shape as we approach the spring months! We can’t wait to open Godwin Mercado’s doors to members of the community and beyond.
